Boxme is a native macOS notes app built on one idea: the note itself is the prompt. No chat sidebar, no copy-pasting into some assistant. You just write.
While you type, a small local model marks up the prose the way a sharp editor would, inline and quietly. When you hit Cmd+S, a bigger local model streams its rewrite back into the note. Save is the send button.
- Swift and AppKit, feels like a real Mac app because it is one.
- Both models run on-device. No cloud, no account, no telemetry.
- v0.1 shipped, v0.2 in progress.
It exists because most AI writing tools want you to visit them. I wanted the opposite: an editor that stays out of the way until the moment of saving, then quietly does its one job.
